University of California signs Open Access agreements with Copernicus Publications and American Society for Microbiology
These new agreements differ somehow from the UC multipayer model for open access publishing that many authors are now familiar with.
UC affiliated corresponding authors will receive a 50% discount on articles published in all Copernicus journals that have a flat article processing charge (APC). A list of these journals can be found on the publisher’s website. Copernicus is the publisher for the European Geosciences Union. The agreement runs form January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025.
The agreement with the American Society for Microbiology covers ASM’s 6 primary research subscription-based ASM journals. UC libraries will cover the full cost for open access publishing for articles by UC affiliated corresponding authors. This agreement runs from January, 1, 2025, through December 31, 2027.
More details about the agreements can be found on the respective web pages for Copernicus Publications and for ASM journals. And any questions can be directed to Michael Ladisch, the library’s Scholarly Communication Officer (mladisch@ucdavis.edu)
