Shields Library is closed through January 1. Requests for books, digitization services, and interlibrary loan will be fulfilled after the new year.
Plan ahead for winter break: Shields will be closed, library services limited
In light of reduced campus operations, most library buildings and services will be closed for winter break. While the break is still a few weeks away, we wanted to let you know now so you can plan accordingly:
- Shields Library, including the 24-Hour Study Room, will be closed from December 19, 2020, through Sunday, January 3, 2021. Blaisdell Medical Library will continue to permit 24/7 access for UC Davis Health badge holders, but the information desk will not be staffed. (See all library hours here.)
- Faculty and instructors — Submit your course reading lists early. The library is not able to scan anything for digital course reserves during the break. Books may be ordered, but will not arrive until January.
- Need a journal article? Interlibrary loan requests for articles will be fulfilled on regular working days only (December 21-23 and 28-30). Requests will not be filled on weekends or university holidays during the break.
- Research assistance or other questions? While our Researcher Services, Student Services, health sciences and medical librarians will monitor email for urgent questions over the break (except on university holidays), please contact us before December 19 if possible for the fastest response.
Until then, good luck in the final weeks of Fall Quarter — and if you will be leaving Davis for the break, travel safely!
