Snow in Davis

After hearing about the possibility of snow flurries in the local area during the weekend, I decided to post this photograph of a bicyclist during a previous snowfall on campus. The image, from the University Archives Photographs, was taken in 1973. The January 1973 edition of the UC Davis Spectator noted “Snow flurries for half a day on Jan. 8 pushed vacation-rested students into building snowmen and ‘snoopies’ and doing battle with snowballs on the quadrangle and elsewhere.”

The University Archives Photographs Collection offers a visual record of the history of the University of California, Davis. The collection contains photographic prints and negatives, and depicts buildings and grounds, faculty and staff, annual events such as Picnic Day, campus events, classes and classrooms, student clubs and activities, departments, and sporting events.
