Gerald “Jerry” Baldwin is co-founder and former president of Starbucks Coffee (1971-1987) and former president of Peet's Coffee (1984-2001). A recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Specialty Coffee Association of America, Baldwin served as a director of the SCAA and the founding chairman of its Technical Standards Committee. Baldwin was a founding director of Red Hook Ale Brewery, and from 2000 to 2021, he farmed grapes and produced J.Baldwin Wines in Glen Ellen, California. The collection chronicles the early years of Starbucks when Baldwin, alongside friends and co-founders Gordon Bowker and Zev Siegl, helped shape the growth of specialty coffee in the United States. Materials include scrapbooks, photographs, correspondence, financial records, scoring sheets, tasting notes, and marketing publications.
