Lang Prize Winner Puts Focus on Women’s Health Education in Davis Community
Tianeh Parsi's "HerScope" hosts Women's Health Expo May 30

In 2025, UC Davis neurobiology, physiology, and behavior major Tianeh Parsi was awarded the library’s Lang Prize for Undergraduate Information Research for her literature review on interventions and approaches in managing Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). UC Davis Health Sciences Librarian Erik Fausak guided Parsi on the strategic use of library databases to identify sources for her literature review.
Motivated by the lack of research and funding in women’s reproductive health that she encountered while writing her review, Parsi launched the UC Davis student organization HerScope with fellow undergraduate Zara Taylor. HerScope focuses on accessible women’s health research, community education and advocacy in the larger Davis community. Recent outreach events include “Mothers, Babies and Beyond” and “Puberty 101.”
This Saturday, May 30, HerScope will host a free Women’s Health Expo at the Mary L. Stephens Public Library in Davis. Students and community members will have the opportunity to connect with health sciences professors, clinicians, researchers and librarians, including librarian Erik Fausak.
