Read Janaé’s Paper (pdf)

Project Description

Bonnell investigated the factors that contribute to higher rates of cancer incidence and mortality on Native American reservations, including socioeconomic issues; environmental exposures, such as living in close proximity to oil drilling; disparities in healthcare access and quality; historical trauma and the Native American relationship with Western medicine. She used over 30 sources, from peer-reviewed journal articles to personal narratives to census data.
