Safa Uraizee

Master Candidate, Public Health Sciences
What began as a daunting and overwhelming task became manageable because of Health Sciences Librarian Megan Van Noord’s support. In addition to helping me break down my research question and identify search terms, she taught me how to refine searches so that I could identify relevant studies independently.”

Identifying COVID-19 Related Concern Patterns: A Mixed-Methods Study of Vaccine Decision-Making in Zambia
Project Description and Impact
Uraizee examined how adults in Lusaka Province, Zambia make decisions about new vaccines and how concerns shaped by the COVID-19 pandemic influence those decisions. Using mixed-methods analysis, she identified distinct “concern profiles” that reveal how beliefs, trust and lived experience interact to influence vaccine decisions. By revealing that people with similar concerns may respond differently depending on context and trust, Uraizee’s research supports more targeted, equitable and effective outreach approaches as new vaccines are introduced.
