The collection contains the personal plant breeding and record file of W.B. Clarke and a set of the nursery's catalogs spanning the years 1934-1949. The W.B. Clarke & Co. Nursery (1920s-1950s) was based in San Jose, California. The founder and owner, Walter Bosworth Clarke, was a breeder, selector, and producer of shade trees and landscape shrubs.
