Booth, William F. Photographs

Collection Number: MC382

Eleven glass lantern slides taken along the Tahoe State Road, the Precursor Road to Hwy 50, in California. Includes photos of a camp, water tank, an old chimney, and other natural and manmade landmarks. Each slide has "Made by WM. F. Booth, San Francisco" printed on one border edge. These lantern slides show a dirt road (State Road) for automobile use going up and over the Sierras to the Tahoe region. They make for an unspoiled 1910 scenic tour of the route, which would evolve into Highway 50.
