William Garrity

William Garrity is the University Librarian and Vice Provost of Digital Scholarship at the University of California, Davis. He oversees all aspects of the library, a major academic support unit serving the needs of the students, faculty, and researchers of UC Davis, the healthcare professionals of UC Davis Health, and the public. Garrity is passionate about the role of the library as a core campus partner and a “third space” that supports users’ academic and research success and sense of belonging on campus. He previously served as UC Davis’ deputy university librarian and the library’s chief operating officer for ten years. Prior to UC Davis, Garrity held library and IT leadership positions at the University of Chicago, Dartmouth, and the University of Pennsylvania.
