Maria Cruz

I have been able to schedule multiple appointments with Researcher Services librarian Megan Van Noord, whose expertise has helped me create search terms for my complex research question and provided me with the knowledge to search through library databases on my own.”

Applying the Voices and Lived Experiences of the Spanish-Speaking Latine Community in the Restructuring of First Response Systems

Project Description and Impact

Cruz’s study uses pláticas — a method of interviewing and storytelling — to reveal the experiences of the Latine community with first response systems, which encompass all pre-hospital healthcare services. Cruz’s research will help first responders better address the needs of the Spanish-speaking Latine community during times of crisis, increase the community’s awareness of how to access resources, and improve public safety outcomes.
