How to Write About Wine: New Acquisitions for the Wine Writers Collection

Shields Library (Lobby - Archives and Special Collections)

December 15, 2021 - April 28, 2022

Wine writers have made a tremendous impact on both the wine industry and the public’s appreciation of wine. Going beyond regions, types of wines, and ratings, they offer unique insights into the people and places that made the wine industry what it is today. Their writing influences not only the wines that consumers choose, but also which new technologies, techniques, and trends take root in the winemaking world. The stories they tell have the power to shape the aesthetic and legacy of winemakers and wine regions for generations to come.

Since 2018, the library has actively worked to expand its Wine Writers Collection. This exhibit largely features recent acquisitions, including from the papers of Dorothy J. Gaiter and John Brecher, Steven Spurrier, Sukari and Shomari Bowman, Ruth Ellen Church, James Conaway, and more.
