The Wine History Project of San Luis Obispo County Records

Picture of special collection

Collection Number: D-812

The Wine History Project of San Luis Obispo County documents local viticultural history in San Luis Obispo County from the 18th to the 21st century. Founded in 2015 by Libbie Agran, who donated the collection to the UC Davis Library, the Wine History Project was created to preserve the historical records of grape varietals, growers, winemakers, county land, and microclimates that contribute to the region’s wine history. The Wine History Project’s website has served as a “museum without walls” for sharing this documented past through rare historical materials, interviews, exhibitions, films, and publications. The collection includes oral histories, art, wine labels, etched wine bottles, maps, newsletters, catalogs, and winemaking tools.
