Nearly 400 linear feet of materials from a variety of countries

Social conflict within and between cultural groups forms the context of collections gathered under this subject heading. The development of organizations either supporting or attempting to change the status quo are represented in collections ranging in theme from local social unrest to world war and its aftermath. Special attention is given to the literal and visual propaganda supporting armed conflict. Several countries and languages are represented in the collections.

Materials are in a variety of formats, including posters, photographs, newsprint, and realia. Most of the material is in English, but there are materials in Spanish, French, Basque, Russian, German, Polish, Portuguese, and Esperanto. There are no geographical or chronological limits. Other materials can be found in the categories of Ethnic Studies, Language and Literature, and Performing Arts.

    Collection of serial publications in the fields of conservative political and economic philosophy, communism, socialism, Russian history, anti-communism, and Soviet-American relations. Pennsylvania industrialist.

  • Angelo, Homer G. Papers

    (D-372)
    Materials relating to his research in international trade law, international telecommunications law, and space law. There are also sections of the collection that highlight Angelo's early career with the United Nations, his interest in automation, and his passions for cooking and the San Francisco Forty-Niners. Professor of Law, University of California, Davis (1968-1986).

  • Berger, Bennett M. Papers

    Correspondence, manuscripts of his writings, and subject files dealing with his research on counterculture and communes. Professor of Sociology, University of California, Davis (1963-1973); Professor of Sociology, University of California, San Diego (1973-1991).

  • Bialuski, Rudolph L. Papers

    Correspondence, daybooks and journals, photographs, materials concerning Bialuski's scholastic work in Canada and his involvement with the United Nations Relief and Welfare Agency. Director of the United Nations Relief and Welfare Agency (1953-1955); Director of Field Operations for UNESCO (1955-1957); Director of the Sacramento Regional United Way.

  • Brody, David Papers

    Correspondence, essays, teaching materials, ephemera, and other materials related to Dr. Brody's time as Professor of History at UC Davis and other academic institutions. Professor of History, University of California, Davis (1967-1993).

  • Camejo, Peter Papers

    (D-504)
    Camejo's journals, correspondence, writings, and audiovisual materials. Peter Camejo (1939-2008), third-party political activist, helped found the California Green Party in 1991. He ran for California Governor in 2002, 2003, and 2006; as independent Ralph Nader's vice presidential running mate in the 2004 presidential election; and as the Socialist Workers Party presidential candidate in 1976.

  • Chinese Nationalist Party Collection

    Pamphlets, photographs, correspondence, and posters regarding the Chinese Nationalist Party of Sacramento. The Chinese Nationalist Party (Kuomintang) of Sacramento was founded in 1920 to support the effort of the nationalist movement led by Chiang Kai-shek.
