VPN Installation Guide: Android (2 Steps)

Step 1: Install Secure Access

Step 2: Configure Secure Access on Android

  1. Open the Secure Access client. Select the Add a New Connection button.

Secure Access app home screen showing 'No Connection Found' with an 'Add a new Connection' button at the bottom.

  2. Enter a Connection Name (we recommend “Library VPN”) and the URL: vpn.library.ucdavis.edu. Do not alter the other fields. Select Connect to save this connection.

Secure Access 'Add Connection' form with Connection Name filled in as 'Library VPN' and URL filled in as 'vpn.library.ucdavis.edu', with arrows pointing to those two fields. Other fields (Username, Realm, Role) are shown empty.

  3. The app will inform you that you need UC Davis Duo to connect. If you’re not sure how Duo works, see the “Getting Started” section of our Library VPN FAQ for more information. Select Proceed.

UC Davis Library VPN ATTENTION notice informing the user that Duo authentication is required, with Decline and Proceed buttons and an arrow pointing to Proceed.

  4. When prompted, enter your UC Davis email address and password then click Sign In. A prompt for Duo will come up. Complete the Duo authentication to complete the connection. Note: UCDH users that have an @health.ucdavis.edu email account MUST use their @ucdavis.edu email address for Library VPN authentication. The @health.ucdavis.edu address will not work.

  5. Select OK to accept the connection request.

Android 'Connection request' dialog from Secure Access asking permission to set up a VPN connection, with Cancel and OK buttons and an arrow pointing to OK.

  6. Once the connection is established, the library VPN will display as an active connection on the app home screen.

Secure Access app home screen showing '1 Active Connection' with Library VPN listed and a green dot indicating it is connected.

Congratulations, you are now connected to the library VPN and have access to all of the library’s online resources!
