Steeped in Community

Shields Library (Archives and Special Collections Reading Room)

January 27, 2025 - March 21, 2025

In celebration of the UC Davis Global Tea Institute’s 10th Annual Colloquium – Tea and Peace: Bringing Communities Together, the Global Tea Institute is excited to present a special exhibition of selected objects from its Collection of Art and Material Culture that explore the themes of community through the lens of artistic collaboration and production of sencha tea wares.

The selected works included in this exhibition make visible the spirit of collaboration and community – fortified through a shared love of tea – in the artistic circles of Kyoto at the turn of the 20th century.

  • Curated by Hunter Kiley, UC Davis Global Tea Institute
