How to Make a (Political) Play: Behind the scenes with the San Francisco Mime Troupe

Shields Library (Lobby - Archives and Special Collections)

September 9, 2009 - March 23, 2010

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the San Francisco Mime Troupe (a political theatre group), this exhibit shows step-by-step how a production is developed. Drawn from the San Francisco Mime Troupe archives, housed in Special Collections, these script drafts, memos, correspondence, broadsides, graphics, photographs, and even old checkbooks vividly illustrate an ex-Trouper’s account of what it takes to create and mount a performance, and to meet the constant challenge of keeping a company alive and afloat.
