About this newspaper

Background

The California Aggie, an independent student newspaper, has served the University of California, Davis campus and community since 1915. The paper started as The Weekly Agricola, officially changing to The California Aggie in 1922. Weekly issues continued — except for a hiatus during World War II — with an expansion to twice weekly in 1963 before moving to five times per week in 1966. The Friday edition dropped off in 2009, and the entire paper ceased a print edition in 2014, returning as a weekly print paper in September of 2016. Since then, The Aggie has continued to print its weekly editions every Thursday while publishing online daily.
